Just recently, I was thinking about my goals and what I am working for in my life and had to stop and think for a minute about the true nature of my goals.
It’s not about what you want, but what you REALLY want our of life.
When was the last time you really asked yourself that question? And did you actually give the answer you should have?
No there is no right or wrong answer to this question but most of us, when asked, come up with an answer that really isn’t quite right. You have to dig much deeper than that.
We answer in the basics. Something like “I want a million dollars”. Ok, so what? Why do you want that?
What’s the real reason behind that goal? What is it that you think you’ll get with that.
See, most of the time, we think we want things like money, a new car, a new house, when there really is a much deeper reason behind those answers and THAT is what we really want.
It’s not about the thing. It’s about the drive behind the thing. That’s what will make us succeed in our goals and visions.
It’s not that you want the million dollars. It’s that you want to get out of the neighborhood your in and move to a better location where your kids can play in the park without you having to worry about them.
It’s about having the comfort financially to be able to spend more time with your family. Take vacations to exotic places and live a lifestyle you’ve never seen before.
It’s about having the financial means to help out another family member that might be struggling in their own life and help get them back on their feet in a time of need.
It’s about donating funs and time to the local animal shelter because that’s your passion and you have the ability to spend the time and funds without the need to worry about “if you can”.
That’s what will really drive you to your success.
Think about that the next time you are writing your goals and visions. What is the true drive behind what you want. You’ll notice that once you have that in your mind you will be much more motivated to achieve your goals much faster.
