Are You An Inspiration?

One of the greatest gifts we have to offer the world is our ability to inspire other to their own greatness in their daily life.

I find that things show up over and over when they have significant meaning around me and this is one of those things.

You know when you first set your eye on that new car that you want and then all of a sudden you start seeing them all over the place? Well that’s what I have seen a lot of over the last few weeks.

Inspiration.

It made me think a bit. I see people taking actions in their life’s that are inspiring. They make a difference in my life. They help me take action to move forward in my plans. I’ve also had people tell me that I inspire them to do better. To be more. To accomplish their goals.

That is a great feeling in itself.

What are you doing to inspire others? How are you helping them? Are you giving them guidance? Are you mentoring them? What are you doing to make a difference today?

I believe that most people don’t think about this enough. They are so crazy in their own day to day that they don’t stop, take one minute and reflect on what they have done to inspire someone.

Think about the impact that would make if everyone just stopped and made a conscious effort to do one thing that would inspire those around them to move forward. To take one step towards their goal.

What one thing can you do today?

It doesn’t have to be big. It can be something small.

Help someone with a task they have been struggling with. Meet someone for coffee and share your knowledge with them. Call someone up that you know has been struggling and offer a piece of advice. Offer to make a connection to someone they might need to meet.

I’m not talking about a lot of work here.

Just some little thing that you can do that will inspire someone else to their own greatness.

So what is it that you are going to do tomorrow (or today) that will make an impact on someone else?

Try adding that one item to your daily to-do list. Don’t put it off.

Just making one small impact every day will lead to much bigger impacts and cause and amazing result.

So, what will you add to your list today?

How To Get Out Of A Funk

Even the most positive and happy people in the world have bad days every so often. It happens to all of us.

Today was one of those days for me. Had a great Fusion TV show this morning and after that a couple of things hit that just put a kill on my great attitude.

It happens to everyone.

Well, what do you do when those things come up and hit you like that?

In a previous post, I talked about surrounding yourself with excellent people. This is one of those examples.

I got back to my office and had a few calls to make. One of them was to a friend that I had been meaning to call to bug her about the progress of her book. She’s been working on it and I told her I would help push her to get it done.

So, I give her a call and we started talking about that. Then things went off on a slide of other topics. We talked marketing. She gave me some suggestions on a new marketing process she had learned. I ended up sharing another resource that I knew would help her out.

The conversation wasn’t that long but we helped each other out with stuff we are working on.

I got off the phone and felt wonderful. This short 10 minute call had totally turned me around and got me out of my funk.

I quickly got back on track with stuff I was working on, and forgot about the annoying things that had happened earlier.

Funny thing. I called her to help her out.

I didn’t call to whine about my day.
I didn’t call for advice.
I called with full intention to help her keep on track for her project.
Nothing more.

Yet, I felt amazingly happy when the call ended.

She has no clue that that conversation helped make my day end in a great mood. She helped me out more than she will ever know (unless she reads this post).

See how important it is to surround yourself with rockstars? Those people that you admire. Those people that bring the best out in you? Those people that you can help and that can help you grow and succeed? Those people are gold in anyone’s world.

Who are your own personal rockstars? Find them and keep them close. You never know how they might help get you out of a funk without even knowing it. Their positive energy and friendship alone can do wonders.

Surround Yourself With Excellence

If you keep doing things the same way, you’ll keep getting the same results.

You’ve heard that one before right?

Well, if you surround yourself with the same people you will get the same as well.

One thing that I am always working towards is surrounding myself with people I consider a step above myself.

By doing this, I am forcing myself to raise to their level.

Think about the 10 people you are around most of the time? Are they about the same caliber as you are? Think about their attitude? Is it positive or are they usually whining about the economy?

Then think about it…  Are they successful, or are they miserable?

See these things are important to pay attention to. I’m not saying you should just dump all your friends right away, but you need to see where you are in your life and where the people you spend the most time with are in theirs.

I’ve heard it said that you are the sum of the 5 people you spend the most time with.

So, what can you do to surround yourself with your own rockstars? People you see as successful. People that have already accomplished what you are wanting to do?

If you want to be excellent, you need to surround yourself with excellence. Then you’ll be much more likely to raise to their level and grow yourself in the process.

When The Student Is Ready, The Master Will Appear

So the last few days as I am working on what to write about for this blog, I have kept having one thing pulling at me and it has been part of my message in a few posts.

It’s all about the Law of Attraction.

Now I do know that a lot of people either don’t believe in it or don’t get it and that is perfectly fine. Call it faith. Call it karma, call it luck. I really don’t care what you call it. It’s all the same thing. Just different names with a slightly different take.

I am a very avid reader. My bookshelf can go head to head with some of the major bookstores out there. The problem is a lot of times I find books that look good and I am drawn to but I don’t take the time to stop and read them.

A few days ago I had just finished a book and was looking to see what my next one was going to be.

I felt very drawn to one book specifically. Honestly, this book had been sitting on my shelf for over a year collecting dust. But for some reason, this day, it popped off the shelf and stood out like it just didn’t belong in that spot any more.

That book was The Attractor Factor by Joe Vitale.

Now I do know he’s even released a newer version of the book since I bought that one. That tells you how long its been sitting there.

As I picked it up, I thought about all thing great things happening in my life right now. Growing a new business that I am very passionate about, starting an Internet TV show, auditioning for my own show on Oprah’s Network, lining up speaking gigs with SCORE, being asked to be interviewed and contribute to other’s books. (and that’s just a few of the new things going on right now).

I realized, these are all things that I attracted to myself. I have talked about the power of intention before and I realized that this is all part of what I have been working for.

The book was just another “hint” to remind me of the power we all have within ourselves to attract what we want.

One part of the book I really loved was a spot where he references an old Star Trek show called Shore Leave. Of course as a long standing Trekkie this got my attention.

He explains how in the show they went to a planet that actually creates things based on your thoughts. You think about it and it comes true.

Joe believed that Earth is like that. We have the power to make things happen by focusing our energy on them. Now the one thing that most people don’t talk much about is the Law of Action which means that you can’t just sit there and think about something all day. You have to actually take action as well to get the ball rolling.

If your intention and wish is to get that new job, you actually have to submit a resume’.

But… What can you really accomplish if you just focus your energies on what you want, forget about any limiting beliefs as to if it’s possible (which is most likely is) and take the steps you need to make it happen.

I ended up reading the book in under 3 days, which is VERY fast for me. I love to read but have never been a fast reader.

He explains 5 steps to getting what you want out of life. They are very simple and easy to do as long as you believe.

I have followed Joe for many years but it wasn’t until just a couple of days ago I had my “ah-ha” moment and realized it was time for me to pay attention to his message.

You can have everything you want is you just put it out there, believe you can have it and then take action to make it happen.

If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend picking up a copy and following the steps. Who knows, you might actually get what you want.

First Things First… What’s Your Daily Bucket List?

As entrepreneurs, we all tend to have way more things to do than there are hours in the day. I know this always the case for me.

So how do you make sure that you are focusing on the most important things and staying on track in your business?

In stead of a big to do list, I like to think of a Daily Bucket List.

If you haven’t heard the term before, Bucket List consists of a list of things that you want to do before you “kick the bucket”

One of the things that I try to keep at the top of my mind is what I call my Daily Bucket List. What is it that I really need to accomplish that day that I can say I was happy that I completed if it was the last thing I did.

I hear it already… people thinking that it should be family related, NOT work related.

I’m not THAT serious about this so, yes, family should come first. But what is it in your work day that is VERY important for you to move forward? That’s what I want you to focus on for this.

Pick no more than 3 things. It does not mean that you don’t have more items on your big picture list, but what are the top 3 things that will move you forward and will make you happy if you get them done.

Those are the things you should focus on first. Forget about everything else. AND take those 3 things one at a time. Do not start on the second one until the first is completed. No exceptions on this one.

If you only focus on those 3 things first each day, you will be much more productive and satisfied with your results at the end of the day.
