We see quotes about change all the time. “Change is a good thing”, “Change Your Thinking”, etc.
So if change is such a good thing, why do we usually fight it tooth and nail?
As humans we tend to like things the way they are. We get in a pattern and stick with it. Think about the first 20 minutes of your day, I bet its almost identical each and every day.
I think for most people, change is just plain scary. We don’t like change because that involves the unknown.
I think that’s what keeps most people in their rut of doing the same thing the same way every day.
Now comes the trouble…
I said “doing the same things the same way every day”. That goes to another famous quote:
“What is the definition of insanity? Doing the same things that same way and expecting different results.”
Here lies the problem. We want more out of life. We want to grow. We want that nice house, the cool vacations, the luxury lifestyle. But, are we willing to do things different to get there? For many, no.
I have made a pact in my own life to embrace change. I have done a ton of things that are outside my comfort zone lately. There is a specific reason for this. I want different results.
I won’t lie to you. At times it is a bit scary. But overall, it is well worth the ride.
I think we need to stop every once in a while and do a self check on what change we are resisting, why we are resisting it, and most importantly, take action to overcome that resistance.
Life is always evolving. We need to adapt with it.
I know that it’s comfortable to do things the way we always have, but give it a chance. Get out of your comfort zone and try something new. Make a change in your life today.
Just one.
Try it for a fit.
Give it a week and see if you like it.
You might be surprised at what you find out about it.
